APLA Health Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Former Board of Directors Member Ivy Bottini

In response to the passing of Ivy Bottini, who died on February 25, APLA Health CEO Craig E. Thompson issued the following statement:

“Today APLA Health joins our community in celebrating the pioneering legacy of Ivy Bottini, who helped to found APLA Health (formerly AIDS Project Los Angeles) and served as a member of our board. We would not be here today with her passion.

“In addition to her work fighting HIV and AIDS, Bottini was an outspoken advocate for queer rights, women’s rights, age discrimination, and fighting against stigma. Bottini helped establish the National Organization for Women (NOW) and formed both the Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing and Alliance for Diverse Community Aging Services.

“Ivy’s many accomplishments are too long to list, and I invite all of our colleagues, friends, and allies to join us in honoring her legacy. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends during this time.”
